I personally would love to see Nintendo go bankrupt and close it's doors for good, but I don't think that will ever happen. This is the company after all, can always fall back on "look we have Mario and Zelda". I do however doubt that they can keep coasting by without putting a decent effort forward.
I think there is a very good chance they could come back with a repeat performance considering their coffers at this stage in the game. In many ways the Wii is just a repeat performance of their outlook in handheld gaming, which has really served them well over the decades. The possible difference, unfortunately for us, is that Sony and Microsoft will both be wary of them as well, and likely try to match their strategy of cheap hardware with minute tech improvement. In that respect (I hope this doesn't happen), at least, they would see much more competition
One thing, though, I wouldn't want to see them go bankrupt, as they have brought some really good stuff to the table in their history. Though WiiFit and WiiSports wasn't jawdropping, I could easily see these titles becoming much better over time. As for Mario and Zelda... well... I wouldn't terribly mind more versions, as long as they were quality, which they seem to do well with for prize titles.
Now playing Demon's Souls.
Just watched and recommend Ip Man on Blu-ray (shipped via Netflix).
